The desert is alive: On their latest album, Audioslave dig deep into the stoner-rock cliché chest. But these ex-RTM and ex-Soundgarden blokes still manage to give the whole a very individual, distinctive touch. It's all very professionally and well-done, as always. Definitely worth while for the hard-core fans. Nevertheless, one can't escape the impression that the guys have done better. When you compare the new songs to the boundless energy of the songs on the previous albums (especially the debut album!), the new material sounds a bit 'restricted' and not as easygoing. But that certainly shouldn't keep people who are potentially interested from giving the album a listen if the opportunity arises.
