„The Zebra turns into Zerberus, the mouse into Mastodon – Zoo Army are into animal riot.” This is the first sentence in Zoo Army info. You could also write: “... from childhood to manhood, how else to describe Gil O.?” I try it in my own words: “They are Germany´s Nickelback!!” Zoo Army is a band who damn deserves to be heard. Songs like Change rock like hell. This here is not just a former bow wonder but a mature singer (very cool American phrasing in his voice), guitarist and songwriter who quit with his past in order to be accepted as a man. And he should succeed, I am convinced of that!!
Thumbs up and, as always: check it out!! 10 Marc Hoek, translation: Klaudia Weber
A second opinion:
This record was already released in last March and now we get the re-release, to which an extra disc is added with two new songs and an interview. The singer of this quartet is Gil Ofarim, who might be know from the German teen magazine “Bravo” or his try to start a solo career. While he got stuck there in the pop scene, the quality of the music improves with Zoo Army. However, it often seems very unnatural to make the singing sound rocky, but nevertheless it is also not really bad. The music is solid rock music, which is created quite variable. But the real problem here are the lyrics, which are really primitive. There it becomes obvious that also English texts shouldn´t be totally senseless.
Those who are able to ignore this fact and the pseudo-rock-singing, could have fun with this record.
