It´s rarely seen that a relatively young band does such a stellar ascent in such a short time like the nice Dutchmen from Within Temptation. Although a certain start-up time (Mother Earth was re-released in Germany) and a lot of promotion from the record company was needed but eventually all the work has paid off. Within Temptation are now amongst the leading gothic metallers in Europe and don´t have to play second fiddle to Nightwish and they don´t have to fear those kind of comparisons either. Already very early the Dutch have proven that they go their own ways...
With their groundbreaking success „The Silent Force“ the band has once and for all reached the top and in 2005 they rode waves and waves of success. To give their fans a very special present the 6 decided to capture their year on DVD. Highlight of the Silent Force Tour was without doubt the spectacular show of the band on Java Island which is recorded on DVD 1.
A gigantic stage was integrated into a enchanting scenery, in the middle of a harbour. Numerous pyro effects, people on stilts, monks and other types and guest singers, as part of this musical spectacle, remind one rather of an opulent musical than a concert. Of course frontlady Sharon bewitches her fans again with magical outfits, baroque costumes and sexy corsages, no genre was left out. The Dutchmen present themselves equally diverse with the choice of songs, there are almost no restrictions; they play the whole spectrum. All hits from the new album and also older titles find their way into the programme. Even in front of the tv you can feel the magic that spreads out from the concert and surely stays as a unforgettable memory in the heads of the viewers…
Additionally, there are 3 tracks from a festival in Finland as well as from the Rock Werchter festival in Belgium on the DVD. But that´s not all: the 3 successful videos from The Silent Force “Stand My Ground, “Memories” and “Angels” are also on it.
The second DVD applies to the years 2003 – 2005 on the road and shows amusing insights from backstage and the tour bus, several making-of´s and interviews, photo galleries as well as specials and many little extras which makes every fan´s heart beat faster. The nicely illustrated booklet and the 5.1 Dolby Surround Sound top off a perfect DVD. In short, there´s nothing to be missed and only makes clear that Within Temptation rightly stand where they are at the moment!
