I can imagine that several Bang Your Head Festivals 2006 complained „What? Foreigner?“, especially if they just knew the hit „I Want To Know What Love Is“. Yet the Brits did not even play this one live (to be heard on the DVD only as a short concert intro), because they rather wrote Rock history with„Urgent“, „Juke Box Hero“, „Cold As Ice“ or „Feels Like The First Time“. And as the DVD shows, nobody in the audience remained unimpressed. Founder, main songwriter and guitarist has gathered an excellent line-up with Jason Bonham (son of Led Zeppelin Drummer John Bonham), singer Kelly Hansen, bass player Jeff Pilson, keyboarder Jeff Jacobs and rhythm-guitarrist Tom Gimbel; many uch younger bands would have to struggle keeping up with them. The active front man of those „Dirty White Boys“ poses and rules the stage like a Bruce Dickinson and cracks some jokes in between, his voice sounds at least as cool as Lou Gramm´s who quit in 2004. Cool! Bonus material are interviews with Hansen, Jones and Bonham.
The tracklist of the 75-min-CD (recorded 2005 in Las Vegas) luckily features a slightly different set list, there are four songs more than on the DVD, e. g. this above mentioned mother of all Power Ballads. Acoustically it is extremely difficult to believe that those guys have passed their teenage years not just recently, they still rock like hell. A flawless show, a perfect recording – this package is indeed value for money.
PS: Until mid-July Foreigner are on tour in Germany, you should not miss this opportunity.
