1.4. Special: Historic Moments in Finnish Metal History
Titel / Title
Gesamtspielzeit Total run time
April Fools Day! A DVD, way too good to be for real... but perhaps this is still fun to read, even after April 1, 2009... This is indeed a world premiere, not only as STALKER releases for the first time a documentary DVD. "Historic Moments in Finnish Metal History" (in Finnish, English and German subtitles) is a collection of rare video clips that turned up during our research and we are now permitted to release. Absolutely unique material, this DVD is a MUST indeed. You can e.g.: surveillance camera clips from the sex-shop owned by Ville Valo´s father where you´ll witness the gradual development of a very young performance artist. A kiddie party where a boy accidentally lands face-down in Pizza - this boy should later be known as Mr. Lordi. Or the video document of a family meeting, where Tarja Turunen discovers her incredible vocal range, with the help of her cousin, or more precisely, her cousin´s pet Tarantula.
Some more examples:
May 5 1983, Päiväkoti (day nursery) Lahti
A Mother´s Day celebration turns into the first impressive public appearance of a 3-year old Tuomas Saukkonen, playing "Lennä Lennä Leppäkerttu" (something like "Diddle Diddle Dumpling") on Hohner Clarina (= kiddie saxophone), accompanied by the nursery teacher on triangle. Remarkable is not only his virtuoso version, but also that he vehemently insisted on repeating the performance over and over again, in order to have every single triangle beat perfectly timed.
Dec 20, 1984, village church Espoo-Bodom
A certain Alexi Laiho showed his big heart and dedication already in a very tender age, during a nativity play, in the role of an angel playing the violin. Totally focused on his violin-playing, he fell off stage, not only breaking the violin but also his ankle. Still he had no intention to quit but continued his part until the end of the play.
Lappajärvi, July 1981
This clip was only known as "Hauskat Kotivideot" ("Funny Homevideos") classic, only recently it turned out that it is indeed Timo Kotipelto to be seen (and heard) here, as he accidentally discovers his singing talent: A group of young people are renovating a "kesämöki" (shed), when one of them - Teenage-Timo - hits his thumb with a hammer - and the rest is Metal-history....
