"Finally a live-band at the `Zombie Love Club` which REALLY rocks!": A statement you heard quite often from tonight`s audience at "Bar Loose" - and which might be true if you disregard Velvet Six at the "Halloween Edition" of "Zombie Love Club" in 2011. But if not Baton Rogue Morgue from Porvoo / Finland, who else would be able to rock the event? After all, it were also the Finland-Swedes Lee Angel Morgue (Vocals), Domino De La Rogue (Guitar) and Danger Ranger (Drums), the Finn Timothy Baton (Bass) and the Italian Francesco Gasoline Mattei (Guitar) who brought at least a little bit of liveliness into the Finnish semi-finals of the "The Global Battle Of The Bands" competition in March 2012 (STALKER reported here ). Even the organisers of the "GBOB" realised that fact and moved the quintet afterwards into the finals - Just to cut out their performances from all TV broadcasts later on without giving reasons, as Domino tells us. Rather dubious than legitimate methods - but nothing that should bother the rockers too much since they already have played at legendary clubs such as the "Whisky A Go Go" in Hollywood. And with Jyrki69, frontman of The 69 Eyes as well as host and DJ of the "Zombie Love Club", at least one of the "GBOB" presenters has recognised the potential of the band, which opens the show tonight with "Midnight Rose", followed by "Hellcity Driveby" and "Hellride". The latter can be found on the CD / DVD compilation "High End Of The Season", but there is only one unsaleable copy of it left at the merchandising booth, "because it`s totally sold out".
And talking about the merchandising booth: Like the stage setting, the sales area impresses with a band banner. Not to mention the giant tour bus which has been parked directly in front of "Bar Loose". Such self-confidence and sense of marketing is, unfortunately, quite rare in Finland. And also when it comes to guest appearances, Baton Rogue Morgue only invite the creme de la creme into the studio, such as Santa Cruz` Archie for "Scream Until You Reach It". Archie is also present tonight but stays - for whatever reason - in the audience when the mentioned song is going to be performed.
"Hat Trick" following later is another song recorded in the studio with guest stars like Barbe-Q-Barbies` frontwoman Niki Rock, Reckless Love guitarist Pepe Salohalme, Private Line singer Sammy Aaltonen and Johnny (Guitar) and Middy (Bass) from Santa Cruz. Concerning live-shows, tonight`s show was the last one in a smaller venue for a while, since Baton Rogue Morgue will support some well-known US bands like L.A. Guns and Warner Drive in the near future. STALKER recommends: Don`t miss it!
