When living nearby the Danish border, why not taking the chance to visit the show of Halestorm with support Heaven´s Basement at Kopenhagen? No sooner said than done, although it meant spending 6h in a car that had seen better days, many many years ago...

Once I arrived at the venue called Beta, my day started with an interview with Halestorm singer Lzzy Hale, which you´ll be able to read on here in a bit. After the interview I went outside again, back into the cold, and joined all the fans which partially had been standing outside already for several hours to make sure they´ll get a nice spot in the small and sold out venue. The mood was good, people listened to Halestorm songs together, the different nationalities mixed quite fast and a real community of fans was created.

The entry happened in two parts, once you managed to get into the warmth of the venue, you were standing in front of yet another closed door – the door leading to the actual space with the stage. The waiting time was used by gathering around the merchandise stalls of the two bands, nevertheless, most of the fans were really quick when it comes to getting into the real venue and in front of the stage.

It started pretty much punctually with Heaven´s Basement , who were supporting Halestorm for the last time on this tour, which led to the happening that drummer Arejay from Halestorm was joining the band during one of their songs to contribute a bit to the already rocking and well perceived show. The band around singer Aaron managed it pretty fast to make the audience move and sing along, the played songs were perceived well and the fun and power that you were able to see on stage was colouring off on the fans, who were able to experience the concert close-up since there were no barriers set up.

After a short break for changing the equipment on stage, the concert of Halestorm finally started. A setlist, which was well chosen, was to be shown: rocking songs, old songs such as “It´s not you“ or „I get off“ were combined with new pieces such as „Mz Hyde” and many more. “Break in” was the quiet and melancholic middle-part of the show, Lzzy Hale was playing the song on the keyboard and sang it with so many emotions in her voice that you could see the tears in people´s eyes.

Arejay, on the other hand, presented a drum solo, which was stunning – if not already before, the audience was stunned, fascinated and fully speechless when he started playing with oversized drumsticks and was showing off his talent really well.

One of the encores was, coming by surprise, „Daughters of Darkness“ – a song from the latest album, and this song has hardly been played live so far in Europe. The crowd´s joy could be seen on the fans´ faces, you really felt the happiness and excitement.

Overall a really convincing concert, that was lacking nothing – quiet moments, rocking songs, an awesome interaction between the band and the audience – only the sound could´ve partially been better, yet the joy of playing and the visible fun was easily transmitted from the band onto the audience.
