STALKER series „Women In Rock“

A while back I heard a rock orientated pop song on the radio. The moderator introduced the band by name and immediately added that it consisted of only of women, that it was a girl band. Personally I was wondering how come it still is so special that a band consists of women only, so that it explicitly has to be mentioned? Then I ended up thinking of a musical genre – metal - where it truly is special if there is even just one woman involved in making music. >> more/mehr

Axemaster: Overture for more to come
One of those bands with a long history: Axemaster was formed in 1985, rocking the scene with classic releases like ”Slave to the Blade”, ”Blessing in the Skies”, ”The Vision” or ”Death Before Dishonor”. After the only remaining original member Joe Sims their musical direction and changed the name to The Awakening for one CD, it took until 2010 that Sims permanently re-launched Axemaster. And it took until March of this year to release their new album ”Overture to Madness” via Pure Steel records, offering a combination of the dark riffs and feel of doom metal and the energy and aggression of non-speed thrash metal.
