Brandon Ashley & The Silverbugs
STALKERs Fresh Act – May 2008

Marilyn Manson & Co. watch out, straight from one of the doors to hell come Brandon Ashley & The Silverbugs. Indie as can be, they are even running their own label “Zombie Dust Records”. After a touring Russia and some opening gigs for Skid Row in their home country, the Italians are more than ready to take over Europe – or the whole world? – with their “glam core”.

Who are you? Please introduce all band members with all their characteristics, spleens etc.

We are Brandon Ashley & The Silverbugs.
The sound of the band is inspired by a decadent and insane mix of Dark and Rock...dark for its “colour”, rock for our attitude.
The band is formed by me, Brandon Ashley, singer and frontman, Davy D´vy, bass player and co-founder, Denny Crash, first guitar player of this band, Emil Bandera, ex guitar player of Death SS and actually part of the band since last June, Phil Ariens, half Dutch and half Italian drummer. During the live shows-our line up is completed by a violinist who gives us a more dramatic sound mixed with the dancing of our beautiful girls, who care of the theatrical part of the show...this is our world!

Where are you from?

We come from one of the most beautiful places around the world...I´m talking about Italy and precisely about Torino, a beautiful city surrounded with the Alps, famous for being the Magic City and one of the doors to hell.

What kind of music do you play?

We like to say that we play Rock, magazines and producers called us a Glam Core band in the past, probably a good name for the music we showed in our first album “Nothing Lasts Forever”.
The spirit of that album is a kind of crossover; I made experiments with several parts of different styles of music like a crazy alchemist, trying to mix more elements. Something so good like Rebel Smile, The Kreel Biz Inc., NRM, Date U 2 Rape U and Rock N Roll Suicide came up from this experiment, a fresh work from a fresh and young composer.
Now I´m working on something different, but not for this far from that songs...my music changes as my life does, for this I´ll always be sure to be honest with me and our fans.

Who do you want to reach, or what do you want to achieve with your music?

We have the pretty arrogance to reach everyone...I mean, I´m sure we´re so transversal to conquer different kind of audience.

How did it all begin?

Everything is the result of my first works when I tried to give a voice and a sound inspired to a particular part of my life...the one I call “The NRM (New Romantic Man) Round” 2004/2005, a critical step of a very young boy lost in many kind of pains and addictions who decided to give life to an insane family based on music and devastation...members of this family were my blonde (ex)girlfriend, a punk author from Milan with suicidal tendencies and, later, his girlfriend, a painter from a little town from nowhere...everybody used to live together sharing emotions, art, drugs and alcohol.
Brandon Ashley & The Silverbugs was born from there

Who are your musical idols, what are your most important musical influences?

Jim Morrison, David Bowie, Alice Cooper, Billy Idol, Alice in Chains...I´m also very influenced by movies, most of them are works by Tim Burton, my definitely idol!

Who writes the music /lyrics, or are all in the band responsible?

I am the author and composer of “Brandon Ashley & The Silverbugs”.
Only recently I´ve worked on some stuff with Emil Bandera, but that concerns the upcoming album.

What do you do if you are not in the band (studying, working)?

I am a producer and sound engineer; I spend my time producing bands...now I´m producing a band called “Deadman`s Ballroom”, a side project of Claudio Ravinale from “Disarmonia Mundi”, famous trash metal band.

Create a slogan for your band!

A shot o´ poison right through your veins!

Would you sell your soul to the devil to become famous?

I would never sell my soul to anybody...

What would you pick if you had to choose between sex, drugs and Rock..n..Roll?

I think it depends by the moment!

What is your dream, where does your motivation come from?

My dream? It hasn´t any border...motivation comes directly from my heart!

What will you do if you don´t get to have a career in music business?

Being inside the music, something involved with that, because I work with music everyday of my life

What was the most exciting/the most disappointing moment in your band history?

The most exciting one was the last Russian tour, especially the shows in Kinishenv and Mogilev...the most disappointing one...mmm...well, I´m proud to say that this band has never given me any disappointment.

What was the most absurd thing that happened to you?

It sounds strange, but when u are a musician everything around u turns in absurd...

What happened during your best/your worst live show?

During our best show the security was throwing people away from the stage and immediately after the show, for the meet & greet. That happened during the last tour...very exciting and quite dangerous for us. During our worst show people were screaming as the same ‘cause they were too drunk to understand what was happening on stage...quite funny haha!

If your song is to be used as soundtrack for a panty liners commercial, would you agree?

Is this a proposal?! Haha

Which song are you most proud of, and why?

Actually Rebel Smile...the last one written for “Nothing Lasts Forever”, the most close and suffered of my works.

What do you think is cool/totally sucks about being a musician?

Everything is cool ‘cause it´s a state of mind...but there are few people who can understand it...this probably sucks or maybe it´s a good thing.

Would you participate in Eurovision or Idols contest?

If this is a proposal it´s better than the panty liners commercial one hahaha...btw yes absolutely!

Which band would you enjoy touring with?

Personally, the “Korn”!

What do you plan in the near future?

We´re recording our second album and we can´t wait to come on tour to Germany...and I think it will happen very very soon...so...don´t miss it!
