Death Metal made in Switzerland is the topic of the evening. Nihilo, a Swiss newcomer Deathmetal band, celebrates the release of their record. The youth club Kleintheater is filled with about 200 youngsters who have a party with those 5 guys from Bern and to buy their CD. The opening band doesn´t really fit into the picture:
Gates of Oblivion play Fantasy Metal, a mixture of Nightwish, Within Temptation and Xandria. They pull it off in a cool manner and with feeling for the sound. Unfortunately their female singer lacks the latter, her voice is as thin as her stage presence.
Nihilo After an extensive break the stars of this evening enter the stage. The program is naturally focused on their new release „Nyktophobia“, a real good CD that provides also a nice feeling when played live. Heavy guitar riffs, brutal drums, powerful bass and evil growls are battered into the crowd that goes wild. The audience is excited, the sound could not have been better. I am convinced that this band has a lot of potential, and if they continue like this, all their sweat and troubles will be paid off in the future; it is always hard in the beginning, and for getting further you need a couple of years. So good luck to you guys, for finding a label and for the band´s future!
The evening is rounded up by Thrash Metallers Zyanide who have like 60 people left, as most of the audience has to run to the last train - like us. Unfortunately the traffic connections in Switzerland leave a lot to be desired.
Summary: Although we could not see it all, the concert was well organized for a youth club. Only the air conditioning could have worked better, the atmosphere in the room was unbearable until somebody finally opened the door to the backyard.
