Total run time

During the first couple of tracks I patiently waited, thinking that musicians are generally a very creative kind and their humor can be also tricky, so let´s give it a chance... The saddest thing is that this record is not a joke – those songs are actually meant to be music! Now I am ashamed to have this CD among my other music.

Worth noticing that Songs of Lemuria was intended as a Dark-Pop project of two very respectable artists, known mainly from their performances in famous musicals. What motivated them to take their musical passions further, we cannot know, but I am impressed how such talented people could come up with such poor quality album. And note, “Deep” – is not their first record, so clearly on some level it is even successful. The songs are not their original also, those are re-makes and honestly, in a much worsened version. This album left me confused, shocked and wondering what to really think of it and what were the creators of it thinking at the time.

First of all, naming your band something so dramatic and mysterious does not automatically make you a gothic or any other kind of alternative-underground band. Wearing long black dresses and posing with fake tragedy on your faces does not make you a dark band either. Playing a few piano keys at the tempo of a retarded doom enthusiast also does not add any more darkness or tragedy to your music. Having someone read a sad poem over the above mentioned melody also does not help much... And if it is not a poem (rhyming “peach-reach” ...), but randomly written lyrics of “plastic surgery, pay tv, footsteps on the moon” and more inspiring lines like that in the chorus, this also does not qualify. If those are supposedly songs from Lemuria, no wonder this culture became extinct, and I feel that every time a song from this album is played, Lemuria only sinks deeper and further...
