Until now, Italy is not really known for its electro bands. Apart from Dope Stars Inc., there were mostly female fronted rock and metal bands like Lacuna Coil or The Lovecrave who managed to succeed outside of their country. In order to change this, the idea of the "Italian Body Movement"-sampler series was born. Until now three samplers have been released, available for free in the net.
One of the highlights of the second edition was the track "Electrosuicide" by Violent Diva, real ear candy with its catchy structures. More contributions to other samplers and gigs in Italy followed, now the duo from Bologna presents their first EP "Six Violent Mornings".
Whereas Dope Stars Inc turn more and more towards guitar and rock, Violent Diva keep to the electronic concept of the early songs - without reducing it on only on the dance floor hit formula. Influences from the classical and alternative music mingle with Hellelectro parts, that remind a little bit of VDivas second band ADAM. It`s the little details that are often only revealed after several listening sessions that make the EP and the band so special.
Beside propulsive songs like the opening track "White Dress" or the revised version of "Electrosuicide", the more untypical ballad "Neverending Nightmare" convinces most with VDivas pure and deep voice. The Duran Duran Cover "Wild Boys" is of course a matter of taste.
The thematic concept should be - at the latest after the in the IBM scene pretty popular Blade Runner intro of "Flammable" - clear to the affected fan: Cyberpunk - but not only artwork wise in a refreshed millennium version.
Let`s hope that the band will find a record deal soon.
