The melodic metal band Mooncry from Southern Germany are around for only a year and have now released their debut album „Legacy of Hope“. The five guys from the Lake Constance area produced their first offering completely out of their own pockets. Their mission was to create an album out of a mix of symphonic and gothic metal, and they did a good job. With catchy keyboard sounds, melodic guitars, sweeping drums, a unique voice and melancholic-reflective lyrics the album makes for an interesting listen. With some songs singer Sali Hasan is backed up by a female voice which make those songs especially touching. Also there is wind, children, a flute and the singing changes into speaking, which clearly shows that the guys have fun experimenting and are willing to take a lot of trouble. Because songwriter Berthold Miller is a big fan of the Finnish metal scene (especially of bands like Nightwish, Sentenced and Stratovarius) it comes as no surprise that the whole album is a little influenced by it. Keep it up!
