Blimey! How can you be so uncompromisingly brutal? Once again Dutch Born From Pain managed to serve a real blast with their newest output "Survival". The name says it all, this album is a "Survival" in the truest sense of the word. On the one hand every listener can be glad if he survives this madness (especially at a gig) and on the other hand, the band can be happy that they still exist in this form after they´ve exchanged 3 out of 5 members. However the opener makes it clear right from the beginning: (This is) "The Sound Of Survival" - so true! Followed by the grooving "State Of Mind" and the pretty melodic breathed on "Sons Of A Dying World". During the complete record you don´t recognize the line-up changes at all, it´s uncompromising and brutal from beginning to the end, no negative effect. Vocalist Rob sounds pissed off like hell and this is definitely an album in good old hardcore tradition - straight in your face parts with "calmer" but nevertheless brutal midtempo parts and even some melodic passages every now and then - nice mixture, nothing to complain, get it!
