If you take a look at the line up of Wardruna, you might think that this is a new Black Metal supergroup, like Gorgoroth pt. 2. Gaahl (current member) and Einar Kvitrafn Selvik (former member) are both part of this project.
But his project has so much to do with Black Metal as FC Bayern München with fairplay.
Instead, Wardruna take us to a travel through the northern landscape. Most of the 12 tracks were recorded in nature, are played without typical Metal instruments and sound like mixture of world music, choirs and drum rhythms. ``Gap Var Ginnunga`` is supposed to be the first of three parts which treats of the Futhark, the old Scandinavian rune alphabet.
So ``Gap var Ginnunga`` is a different kind of sound experience. Instead of headbanging, relaxing and dreaming are required. Wardruna live and breathe the spirit of Scandinavia and can be recommended to all who want to experience a new approach to music.
