The Cold from Frankfurt / Main, Germany, doesn´t play the music which fits to a summer beach party, rather something for a gloomy day in autumn. Melancholy, which in spite of that invites to dance, straight and easy. The tune reminds so much of the idols the band has like Joy Division or The Cure. This sounds fresh and even authentic, three guitars, keyboard, bass, drums rock the stage. The voice fits, too. If you would play this piece in the car radio without any knowledge about it, well, it could happen that you think: hey, somebody discovered an old, forgotten band from the beginning of the 80s. A surprise.
But The Cold isn´t a young band, founded already in the year 1997. They have a lot of experience, played as a support-band for The Mission, had gigs at the WGT and M´era Luna and appeared this year 2009 at the Gothic Pogo Festival in Leipzig. Although they don´t have the gene to play happy music (as they once mentioned during an interview), they don´t agree so much to get too deeply pushed in the gothic corner. We play simply Indie-Rock, Wave, Alternative, whatever, they say. Some songs on “Last Embrace” have the ability to become tickling earworms. And if you didn´t have been by yourself in these old times, well, here you could use the chance to drift back in time…
