When you are from Carlsbad, New Mexico, a town of 25.000, there not really anything you can do besides go hunting, dig a hole somewhere in the wilderness and lie in it, or you can do something useful:
Brachial modern metal! Brothers Chris (drums) and Les Huber (guitars, vocals), Todd Brashar (vocals, guitar) and Derick Richards (bass) opted for the creative path. This undertaking goes by the name of "Enigmatic Existence" and is reminiscent of the dark period of Fear Facory, Strapping Young Lad and the unbelievable power of Pantera´s golden days. Songs like "Reverse", "Transience" and "Against Me Evil" are marked by dark, ominous keyboards, staccato riffs, aggressive singing and catchy, clear refrains.
Not very innovative and a little bit more variation would have been nice, but still an entertaining album.
