Music journalists encounter lots of bands, albums, songs they maybe would never come across normally `cause they are just too many. Getting attention is especially difficult for newcomers, e.g. Jettblack from the UK of whom I have never heard before. First impression via myspace: If the other tracks of the album "Get Your Hands Dirty" are as catchy as this one, the guys won`t be newcomers for long...

The Opener "Slip It On" supports my first impression, typical Hard Rock including guitar solos but not such squeaking 80s style. Well, on the second song "Two Hot Girls" the guitar player can`t resist after all... But it doesn`t derogate the song. It becomes more intoxicating with "When It Comes To Lovin`". On "Fooled By A Rose" the tempo takes a half step back and the song captivates with pithy guitar riffs. "War Between Us" seems to be a ballad at first but then it`s somehow not. Romantic sounds are apparently nothing for these English guys.

Then the rocking title track is veritable a catchy song, a clever choice to release it as first single! It`s quite often the case that bands lure you with a good rocksong and bores you then with the rest of the album. In case of Jettblack it`s different - until "Not Even Love", a semi-ballad with lots of 80es kitsch. I have to think of gummy hair wax which tames potentially 80ies manes and a sea of lights made by cigarette lighters in the stadium. Ouch! Ok, you also wanna have some girls in the audience but are such big guns necessary? And not every woman likes that...

Like an apology, Jettblack deliver metal riffs on "Mother Fucker" – but this is followed by "Sleep" another ballad, which is abtually really nice. "Holding" is another rock smasher like you can find a few of them on "Get Your Hands Dirty", and the final "Innocence Is Mine" makes me smile `cause it sounds like they tried to create their own "Sweet Child O` Mine". It`s not meant in a negative way, just render homage to idols like Guns`n`Roses!

According to their own words, the quartet prefers to write killer riffs, ear shredding guitar solos and huge hooks instead of wasting time with worrying about hair and make-up.And if you have once listened to their music, you will be hooked immediately `cause Jettblack kick your ass and put a smile on your face at the same time. Well, nothing left to say `cause: It`s exactly like that!
