Also in the Hard Rock / Glam Metal field there are so many cult bands that you can`t know them all, like "Ratt" whose heyday were already over in the beginning of the 1990s. But now there is a new album "Infestation", and I can listen to this album totally free from both prejudices and expectations.

No "just sit and listen to the album" even with the opener: "Eat Me Up Alive" starts to rock like hell! Gosh! When are they playing the next concert? I wanna rock! With "Best Of Me" they keep on the same track, but this song is a bit too much 80s for me and I imagine some hard rockers who look like Bon Jovi with long hair then. Not really my thing. Fortunately they leave this path with "A Little Too Much" quite fast and it continue where "Eat Me Up Alive" has started. "Look Out Below" is in-between, actually a cool song but these squeaking 80s guitar solos are something I cannot get used to in this life.

Here I have a suspicion concerning the album structure and "Last Call" proves it, another great rock track. "Lost Weekend" corroborates one my theory more time, rock smasher - 80ies rock - rock smasher. Well, not really, "As Good As It Gets" is the same category and a bit sluggish. And I expect more of those smashers. Ratt meet this expectations with "Garden Of Eden" despite the guitar solo at the end. Hey guys, don`t tune the guitars so high! "Take A Big Bite" - The answer to my prayers. "Take Me Home"... Guess what... Yes, it reminds of hair crime time once again.

The final track "Don't Let Go" suits more my taste, though I like the other rock tracks more and also here the guitar player(s) get their solo performance. Luckily we have the repeat button so I am able to listen to my favourite titles right again...

Despite the 80s squeaking guitar solos, there are still many points left for Ratt, for all the rock gems which will make me study their whole discography in the coming days. Who knows how to gain new listeners after 30 years band history is definitely doing something right and Ratt wouldn`t be the first band whose career experiences an Indian summer. At least they set the course for it with this album...
