Working under the indie label Danse Macabre Records, Eyes Shut Tight have released their debut album “Secret Destroyer” and it hits the spot. The straightforward riffs and somewhat electronic sound bring Eyes Shut Tight somewhere between Marilyn Manson and Rammstein and it is very clear within the first minutes that the music works live brilliantly.
The steadily hammered riffs make the audience jump on their feet while the howling vocals drive them insane. Especially the songs like „Childlike Face“are very easy for the audience to bounce and sing along too, all thanks to the previously mentioned progressively harder evolving riffs and steady beat.
The record does not offer a show off of extreme instrumental prowess, but the pure, straightforwardness of the tracks does not need it. One can compare it to “Beautiful People” from Manson –the straight to the point without too much mucking about or showing off.
I strongly recommend everyone, who has a taste for the morbid to check out this album. Furthermore I strongly urge everyone to check them out live. A look at their MySpace site as well as the CD artwork shows that the band has creative powers to support it.
