Jimmie Vaughan, a well-known Bluesrock-Guitarrist, releases a new album, after 9 years, „ Blues Ballads and Favorites“. A very personal selection of legends like Willie Nelson, Jimmy Reed, Johnny Ace and Billy Emerson, as well as one self-written song „Comin and Goin“.
The CD was recorded by Vaughan himself, in hishome town Austin, Texas, and includes songs like „I’m Leaving it up to you“ by Don & Dewey and Little Richard’s „Send me Some Lovin“ including a duet with the legendary Blues singer Lou Ann Barton. There´s nothing special about this album, the covers are Vaughan’s own interpretation, and I am personally more attracted by the originals. There´s nothing to complain about the Blues guitar work, a nice piece of work that shows his high level of playing. Still you would have wished for an album that contains his own songs – Blues songs that could later be covered by second class cover acts – because you would expect a little bit more of a Jimmie Vaughan.
