The entry into Tales From The Morgue is classic-creepy, soft keyboard sounds accompanied by scenes from a splatter movie: death cries, evil laughter – welcome to the horror show. The Swedes from Entrails, and that´s mainly guitarist and mastermind Jimmy Lundqvist, take their „dödsmetall“ dead serious! Death lurks everywhere, in the lyrics, the cover design and of course in the music. There are death growls, thick death riffs and thrashing death drums as far as the ear can hear, from time to time the “rotting flesh choir” joins in as well. Sometimes, though, the smell of death is taken off by melodic guitar solos, which suits the whole arrangement very well.
Entrails as a band are around quite a while already. They were formed exactly at that time when Oldschool Swedish Death Metal was still Newschool Swedish Death Metal, in the beginning of the 90s. No surprise then that the sound on this debut album of the band hasn´t changed too much. However, the familiar mix of death and thrash is definitely worth listening to, not only in the morgue. For example in a club around the corner? In November the band is on a mini tour through Germany. Check our tourdates!
