From Norway but not producing anything in Black Metal style, although the band members are recruited from that genre (Old Funeral, Grimfist, Taake, Borknagar etc). Head Up High is the second album of The Batallion and revives the 80s, giving an impression of Motörhead, Venom and early Kreator - thrashing groove in Old School style, mainly in mid-tempo which is good for headbanging. Occasionally they burst into speed attacks (e.g. Thickskinned and Weatherbitten). The sound, too, has some old school appeal, that means it´s a bit mushy. In the last part of the CD there are some epic or even Doom elements to be found, the majority of the songs, however, follow a simple pattern and therefore are easily accessible. Live that fact must work out nicely, but in CD form I´d like to have a bit more diversity.
