The new Deep Purple from Germany rock the planet. Well, almost: Founded in 1998, Deep Purple tribute band Demon's Eye has caught the former lead singer of Rainbow and Yngve Malmsteen, Doogie White and recorded with him this album with own written compositions.
The close proximity to bands like Deep Purple or Rainbow jumps massively to the listener from the first tune on. These influences should not, will not and can not be denied. Demon's Eye has the sound world of Deep Purple internalized so deeply and are also playing at such a high technical level that original “purples” like Ian Paice and Jon Lord have played with the band together. The spirit is as good as the original one.
Now a new era is begun. The songs are all pure retro, pure 70s and early 80s nostalgia, but being so powerful and professional that no embarrassment can come up. Why should they not be alive, the good old values? And yes, Doogie White, they have got a really awesome singer to the microphone, who gives to the melodic pathos of classic power rock authentic presence.
With the exception of drummer Andree Schneider, the crew since the founding days has been completely renovated. The current lineup does not create entirely their own sound, but this work can´t be described as a copy. It's like to visit old familiar places again, but look at them again under different conditions and through different eyes. Here, no rock history is written, here it comes to life.
Listen, enjoy and marvel.
