Do you like Italian pop, Sir or Madam? Yes, notice the polite salutation, because here we are with this album inside of the cultivated 50s and 60s Italian Pop area. Regardless of the flower-power pop-presentation of the colorful cover, we still slip into realms of... HARDCORE.

Do you know Mike Patton? Yes, indeed, the voicebox-acrobat from California who married an Italian woman and learned the Italian language, he was and is the lead singer of Faith No More and realised shrill projects as Peeping Tom, Mr.Bungle, Fantomas or Tomahawk. An excursion into the unfamiliar is also known by the project "Lovage". Constant change is written on his flag. Development, destruction and subsequent construction, reincarnation, never castration, rather disguise. He is one of the singers who love the show and the self-presentation. Listen now to this man singing melting sobbing Italian hits - hell, that's hardcore. And still more: that's punk! Destroying traditional structures, away with everything you previously knew about Patton or would not like to guess - now runs the southern Top Ten of past times.

And this runs terrific. It's fun. Because as much and as well the ultimately gifted and vocally experimental Patton the old Italo-Hits interprets, but nearly 50 years have passed - and therefore it is not about reproduction, but a kind of reflection. This reflection involves a lot of respect and affection for the old works, but also a twist of humor and playfulness to living out the Patton-Ego. The dusty songs sound authentic on the one hand, but on the other hand so much mobilized that the past 50 years disappear in between. The charisma of nostalgic entertainment music very entertaining and unnostalgic. Dorian Gray looks in the mirror - and he says: "oops, still so fresh?"

If you are looking for something that does not fit to black metal, maybe a change from death metal and grindcore, and - let's say - if you're into Italian songs: Then you grab the masterpiece "world of the dog" Mondo Cane.
