The Safety Fire is a progressive Metal band from England and they just produced their debut “Grind The Ocean”. Like many other bands, The Safety Fire is very similar to Messugah and “Periphery” was probably played often in the studio.
Looking at the bigger picture, they didn´t bring anything new onto the table; they seemed to have jumped onto the progressive-jazz-metal bandwagon, which is already well filled up. The vocalist, Sean McWeeney doesn´t leave much room for criticism and I must admit that he has a beautiful voice.
This album is a good addition for the fans of the genre. If you find distorted rhythms, sinful melodies, instrumental masturbation and disharmony annoying you should rather not touch this album.
