The first sounds switch the listener in the traditional Lacrimosa tune: a little melancholy and classical attitude is foamed with strings and guitars. The orchestral turns into the rock, and Tilo starts with aggressive hoarse voice in surprisingly harsh punk mode and rather simple, straight lyrics. With "Some ass is always around" Tilo Wolff straddles a balance between piano introduction and thunderous rock. Lacrimosa would just not themselves, if not variety would belong to the known strengths.

After three years we listen now to the eleventh studio album, ten songs in 54 minutes. "If the world stood still a day" is the only song by Anne Nurmi solo, in Celtic style her gentle, lyrical voice contrasts to a distinctive rhythm. Moreover she keeps herself on the album vocally in the background and acts mainly on keyboards. "Lost" gets on over 7 minutes enough space to spread out, electronically beginning and marked by an exciting bass line, in which a sobbing Western "Once Upon a Time in the West" harmonica chime in. The song is like a rock opera, marked by a dramatic libretto and intervals of destruction. Tilo Wolff´s voice makes clear that it is not really about singing, but about a kind of vocal theater performance.

Theatre-like and by a-capella "This Is The Night" continues, which poaches in cabaret atmosphere before it increases at the end to a crescendo of an outcry. Wolff likes to use a vehement exchange of noisy parts that tilt suddenly to silent intervals. Playing the piano is very sensitive and forwards in the "Firetrain", who breathlessly races without a break through his route. After so much speed, the "Refugium" offers a place of silence and reflection, interrupted only by the evocative chorus - Wolff accompanies himself at the piano, at the end pulled by a keyboard into a monastery-like sphere, a beautifully played, quiet but intense song. "Because you are in need of help," disguised as a slow rock ballad, is played with profound, alternately agitated and calming offered lyrics.

And then it comes, the "Red Symphony" in one movement for over eleven minutes - and a broad garden, in which landscaper Wolff creates orchestral Renaissance flowerbeds with romantic piano- and harp-interludes and furious rock spectacle. Here he lives his talent up for dramatic song composition, tracing the bow of delicate violins to massive organ, pounding drums and rocking guitars; like a weather god, who let at the same sky going down rain and hail from the stormy clouds, while right next to it warm sunbeams reflect on beautiful lakes.

No "revolution" - even not in this final song - is served by the master, rather a continuation in the mode of the previous album "Sehnsucht", combining rock with classical music, electric guitar together with piano, Romantic with punk, dark thoughts with gentle caress, a little kitsch, a lot of pathos. An individual search for his own cosmos of sounds - suckling from his own past - paints neo-romantic, contrasty inner pictures.
