Riverland is the name of this album and also of this Finnish duo Mikko Heino (Minutian, Montage) on vocals – he is also mainly responsible for the lyrics - and Roni Seppänen (Tracedawn, Devil I Know, Montage) on guitar. They describe their music as “modern acoustic pop with a hint of prog rock and psychedelia”. Formed in 2008, they have been playing at various folk festivals and also performed many club gigs. This debut EP is a concept album; its main themes are helping people, taking care of each other and falling in love. Fellow musician Aki Väkevä programmed the drums and mixed the final album. Those seven very dreamy tracks create a certain camp fire atmosphere in your living room – it´s definitely nice for chilling out. Good and pretty catchy songs – but for a full-length album I´d wish for a bit more variety, and sometimes Mikko´s voice is not 100% clear when he goes into the falsetto range. Otherwise there´s nothing to complain about, and actually you can make up your mind yourselves because you can listen to the entire album online when you visit the band homepage.
