For a little less than half an hour the guys from Bane demonstrate what hardcore should sound like in their opinion. "The Note" was produced by Brian McTernan, who some of you may know from his work with bands like Thrice, Hot Water Music and Cave In. Unfortunately the music on this album doesn't have the same free atmosphere we would expect from this guy. The problem lies in the disharmony between the instruments and the singer Aaron Bedard. Because whenever he's busy "screaming" monotonously, the nuances of the music disappear completely. It's almost as if the other band members recorded to the vocals instead of the other way around. I'm sorry, but this is unsatisfactory.
