I honestly have to say that I was really curious to find out how the second output from Wolfpakk has turned out. Did Mark Sweeney and Michael Voss this time succeed in coordinating all the different guest vocalists? Something they didn´t quite accomplish on the debut record. And to my pleasure, I can now announce: YES, they did it!
Also with Cry Wolf, the listeners can look forward to many guest musicians like, for example, Miss Amanda Somerville, the adorable voice of Avantasia and Trillium. Then we have, the man of the superhigh notes, Ralf Sheepers (Primal Fear), Doogie White (ex-Rainbow), Blaze Bayley and many more. Once again, they haven´t stinted on talented guest musicians but, this time, they deployed them way more skilfully.
Musicwise, there is a bit more variation and they experimented a bit more but they kept in mind to deliver, first and foremost, great Hard Rock of the highest quality. And it worked out well. Songs like, for instance, Palace of Gold remind me of Avantasia but not so much that I would call it a copy and with the slow Cold Winter, I would have loved to hear more of Amanda Somerville. All in all, one can look forward to 11 great tracks (including a cover of Rainbow´s “Run with the Wolf”). People who buy this record not only get to hear lots of talented musicians at work but also awesome music, in general!
