The opening song "God is Sexy" off "The pursuit of happiness" from the Horny Pancakes says it all: a fresh sound, a very good singer, reasonable musicians and melodies that aren't too bad at all. But you get the feeling that none of it is really "finsihed". The song structures are a little too predictable. Songs like "Happy Now" and "Feel" do have a special something. The Horny Pancakes are on the right track, but they might have been better off recording a small number of very cool songs very well, rather than recording 15 songs that are so-so. It shall impress an label a&r, or not?
