Some things never change – for example the fact that those 7 Finnish musicians simply create fantastic stuff. And basically I could just repeat what I wrote about the predecessor “A Healing Place” - for example “simply beautiful Prog-Rock” or “ear candy with a twist”, which are once again crowned by the hypnotic velvet voice of Ilpo Paasela (supported by singing guitarists Pekka Loponen and Jussi Hämäläinen). Although they focus on atmospheric elegic sounds, they do not forget adding those heavy distorted guitars or the aggressive Rock drumming. And of course this element of melancholy which seems to be inevitable for a Finnish band. Compared with the predecessor, it seems that New Haven is a little bit darker and heavier, see for example this killer track “Falling Kind”. As the band info mentiones “cinematic sound”, there are indeed moments I gotta think of the Blade Runner soundtrack (“Drifter”). As mentioned before, fans of Opeth, Katatonia, Anathema or Tool & Co should definitely check out this band, too.
