Actually, „Anesthesia“ was already released in November last year but now follows the official release via Inverse Records. Although Strong Addiction formed back in 2007, this is the band´s debut album. By the way, in 2013 the band, hailing from Helsinki won first place at the Hard Rock Café band contest. Their Alternative Metal carries the listener through the last five decades of music history but is mixed with a modern twist and accompanied by a singer, who knows how to use his voice in a very variable way. All this gives the sound a unique character and the band stays true to their style throughout the album. Some of my favorites, soundwise, are Fix Me and Losing It All. Then, the album becomes more psychedelic and this is where it somehow stops to be fun, literally. It´s not like the songs are bad but they are very melancholic and gloomy. But with Empire Of Lies, light casts out all darkness again. And the way Sebastian Ulmanen sings is just awesome. I guess no one thought the guy could sing like that. This song that slowly ascends from darkness is followed by the next highlight of the album Fix Me. Those who buy Anesthesia can be sure to get some great songs, awesome guitar sounds and a singer, who has that certain something in his voice. With the exception of two or three songs, this album is total harmony of music and vocals for me. But, you have to be in the right mood to be able to fully enjoy it, it´s really heavy stuff.
