There were times in the nineties where one or two man projects from Scandinavia continually released fantastic Black Metal records to the market. Although this boom apparently is gone and Svartskogg are not from the mentioned regions, the two German can get in line there. The roughness of Darkthrone combined with the midtempo riffs of Immortal result in a many-facetted album with big list into the Trash. See just songs like “New Flesh” or that with a riff from Slayer, hm, loan “Exterminator Angel”. You can only wonder what Svartskogg can achieve with a higher budget. At least they have earned it.
