The fifth studio album brought some changes to Sevendust: a new labe, a new guitar player (Ex-Snot/Amen/Hed Pe Sonny Mayo) and, the most important thing, a new sound. – Or better: “Old sound”. Because Sevendust made you worry with their last album "Seasons" where it was so easy to hear that their former label finally expected a huge radio hit from the band: with a few exceptions it was just smelly soft sounds. The new CD "Next" is different. Sevendust re-discovered their old strength, killer riffs and tight rhythms, perhaps the most tight in Rock business. Tracks like "Hero", "Pieces", "The Last Song" etc. run over the listener like a fast train on high speed. Singer Lajon Witherspoon sings like a music god while drummer Morgan Rose backs up with evil screaming parts. A perfect symbiosis. A real good album, yet deductions because of this kitsch ballad "This Life". Still Sevendust seem equally inspired as with their milestone "Home".
