The Italians of Metatrone offer with “The Powerful Hand” – you can guess from the title – variable Power Metal. The record begins with an old Gregorian song (“Veni Creator Spiritus”) which was created in Latin, as well as the final song. The rest of the album is in English, what will be more useful for understanding the lyrics.
After a closer look into the booklet, at the cover and the lyrics you´ll see that the South Europeans play Christian music. On the cover there is the hand of a Metal fan, which touches the hand of a cleric (or is it Jesus himself?). Then on the first page there is the picture of a Jesus statue, some tracks (“The Best Way”, “The Rock”) are apparently borrowed from parts of the Bible and the last song is the prayer “Ave Maria”. Moreover, you´ll find many Biblical quotations all over the booklet. That is no surprise, because band founder Davide Bruno joined a theological institute in 2001.
Those who can ignore such things will find on the second opus of the quintet very good Power Metal, because no matter what you think about religion the songs are composed and performed in a melodic and entertaining way.
