On their fourth long-player Chimaira show that they really belong to the best of modern metal. Already the opener “Resurrection” is great. However, there are the typical nu metal elements, but with a catchy melody and little sound details the sextet is able to make its music sound special. Also “Pleasure In Pain”, “No Reason To Live” and “Killing The Beast” are often out of mainstream.
With elements from death metal and classic heavy metal – for example the guitars in “Worthless”, one of the highlights for banging your heads and for having it in mind all the time – Chimaira from Ohio show that nu metal can be more than the stuff that we have already heard thousands of times. “Six” begins with an oriental intro, is then made up of the hard stuff and also the bridge is a pleasure for your ears.
Chimaira offer with “Resurrection” an masterpiece, which is catchy, variable and away from uniformity. An album not only for modern/nu metal fans.
