Who still didn´t find the right barbecue or picnic background-tune for this summer and who likes Finland-rock, surely makes the right choice with Maryslim. The four guys are from Sweden, but still you can aim for that. “A perfect Mess” is their fifth album and was, just as the previous two, produced in the Abyss Studios from no-one less than mister Tägtgren himself.
If you concentrate on listenening you can notice his trade-mark, especially in the song “Alice”. Maryslim play modern, catchy Rock´n´Roll with 70s rock and punk influences, what creates a peculiar, interesting sound. For my taste the songs “High Wings”, “Me vs. Myself”, and “Alice” along with the Sisters- cover “This Corrosion”, with 69 Eyes frontman Jyrki as guest singer, are to be pointed out. Who is not at all into Punk shouldn´t be put off. In fact the album does not provide big surprises, yet it offers a lot of ear candy-potential. It is fun, and that´s just perfect for a boozy bathing-adventure with friends!
