It took three years until the veterans Lake Of Tears are back – Daniel Brennare (voc), Mikael Larsson (b) and Johan Oudhuis (dr) with a new full band member Magnus Sahlgren. And they managed to hit the mark, who back then enjoyed “A Crimson Cosmos” should definitely get this album. The title “Moons And Mushrooms” gives the idea that there might be a portion of psychedelic, but luckily it is kept small. The guitar-oriented opener “Last Purple Sky” with uptempo groove has Lake Of Tears appear as Scandinavian Stoner band. Although the focus is rather on the keyboard, the guitars have their heavy parts, “Waiting Counting” even features a Slayer quotation. “Children Of The Grey” is an excellent Rock song, bombastic, with snotty vocals and aheavy groove to bang your head to. Only the ballad “Like A Leaf” has too much Kitsch for me. But basically a good album that is good for partying as well as chill-out.
