No idea how often I had seen TEN YEARS AFTER live already, but I go to see them, whenever it´s possible. And a concert together with music legends MILLER ANDERSON and MITCH RYDER on the same evening - I simply had to go there!
Unfortunately I could not get to the show in time and missed MILLER ANDERSON - what a pity, his album Bluesheart is simply great, and people told me that I missed a great show.
I arrived just in time for TEN YEARS AFTER, and they started with "Working On The Road": RIC LEE drums, LEO LYONS bass, CHICK CHURCHILL keys and JOE GOOCH guit. and voc. pulled of full energy right from the start, so even my tired bones woke up again. As during the show 6 months ago, I did not know whose fingers to watch first. The set has not changed much, but all those short intense soli of all band members, combined with the typical TEN YEARS AFTER sound hardly leave any time for breaks. A crisp late summer evening with "Big Black 45, Love Like A Man" and more of such Highlights. "I´d Love To Change The World" is always fascinating me, a song with many rhythm changes, a lot of emotion and power, and then this special atmosphere in the Burghof venue - simply great! But it was over way too soon, and I can never get used to that. While the stage was set for MITCH RYDER, T.Y.A. also gladly gave autographs.
Hard to believe - at rather short notice MITCH RYDER agreed to replace Spooky Tooth, being a well known name in the world of Blues, and in our country almost something like a myth, as he hardly ever plays live here. With a backup band from Berlin and his unique voice, the man with the hat and dark glasses delivered songs like " True Love, Red Scar Eyes, Long Hard Road" and many more. His version of "Heart Of Stone" is simply breathtaking, where does this voice come from? Earth-bound and powerful, simply great. The atmosphere was great, but after midnight the magic was over. Only then I noticed how tired I was...

Therefore I could find out that their new album Evolution is finally finished and should soon be available, first via the band homepage, as well as their live DVD. Well, somehow I have to kill the time waiting for another show next year... " border="0">
