Just like every year Pothead came to Hamburg in winter, and as every year no-one wanted to return the ticket that probably was a Christmas present. A typical Pothead-show always consists of the same ingredients. Bass, guitar, drums and vocals shared by three people, combined with good light show, extended duration and many relaxed intervals for smoking.
It's great that Pothead really know how to keep their audience's attention for 2,5 hours and still have a lot of fun playing. Pothead never become boring. This time the overcrowded venue witnessed a time travel experience including all Pothead albums, you could not help singing along, no hit was missing and also the sound was excellent. This time the guys played quite heavy, and I enjoyed that. Nobody realized that the drummer was affected by a cold because of all that beer and smoke.
A buddy offered the theory, that it might be those Bolt Thrower vibes that had filled the venue the day before. Whatever it was, I enjoyed it a lot, and the rough attitude did not continue during their slower songs. After two hours I felt a bit tired already, but that might have resulted also from those nice smelling smoke clouds around me. Just like at a Reggae show... a great concert! So see you next year!
