Sanctity: Pretty beer monsters

This American band had already raised my attention when they warmed up for Annihilator and Trivium in Helsinki. Moreover, Sanctity released with “Road To Bloodshed” an excellent debut album. Although they are still on their Europe tour, singer Jared MacEachern managed to spare a little time for answering STALKER´s questions.

How was the tour so far?
This tour has been fucking sick, especially after the show tonight in Koeln, Germany. Dem geht! Really, it’s been lot of fun. We’re meeting all kinds of new people and fans, thanks to Lana and Dennis for starting the first German Sanctity MySpace fan page! We’ve been without our tour wagon for a few days due to brake, um, issues. Yay. But we’re cruising again and having a blast with our friends in Trivium and Annihilator. I can’t wait to come back!

You also had an accident in Nottingham, were there more vehicle-problems?
See above.

Did you get to sing “Alice In Hell” every night?
Yeah, Jeff asked me early on in the tour and I said “ Alice in Hell yeah!”

Reactions of fans? What is different in Europe to American audiences?
We love playing for everybody, but there are some differences between US and European crowds. Euro crowds are really quick to respond and they just tear it up! Especially since it’s the first time most of them have seen us, they are immediately supportive. U.S. crowds are a little tougher, but when they get into it, they’re unstoppable!

What is different between Canadian and American Metal musicians?
Nothing, really. We’re all musicians, and we’re all here for the same thing! Actually, Canadians do fart more…..

Did you experience something like a culture shock at some place in Europe?
Everyday over here is amazing. It’s still hard to believe we’re here…..maybe we’re the culture shock? (Laughs)

What is the most difficult thing for you being on a tour, in general, what is most fun?
Being away from home for so long is always hard; and just keeping up with everything takes a bit of effort, but the show and the crowd make everything worth it.

You mentioned some stuff like pranks already in your tour diary, but did some real weird thing happen on tour?? (Please include all gory/embarrassing details =D
We all actually like to go to the disco after shows and just dance! Oh, and lots of farting.

Please introduce all band members, characteristics, spleens.
Zeff Childress – Lead guitar destroyer, general mad man. He’s got a little temper, but he is ferocious on stage in the best way!
Jeremy London – Drumming Juggernaut, and pretty boy. He lives off coffee and cigarettes.
Derek Anderson – Four string shredder, and big teddy bear. He’s a funny fuckin dude! And he’s pretty too.
Jared MacEachern – Rhythm Guitar and Throat, and A.D.D. beer monster. I’m pretty much always smiling.

What do you do if you are not in the band (studying, working)?
I had a day job at a flat glass shop up until this tour, but when I’m not working, I pretty much like to play video games and drink beer. I’m such a geek

What is your dream, where does your motivation come from?
I’ve been a musician pretty much my whole life, and it’s what I’m best at. I’m totally living my dream right now.

The ”Beneath the Machine” Video is very funny to watch, just listening to the song I had never interpreted the meaning like THIS :) Is there a particular story behind it?
It’s just a look at some of the ideas and motivations behind tattoos.

Who writes the music /lyrics, or are all in the band responsible?
We all write.

Finally: What would you pick if you had to choose between sex, drugs and Rock´n´Roll?
Always Rock. A little booty or good time is nice too!
