The swamplord has returned from the darkest fog and mist and with him he brought his subjects, brothers Kokko and co. To accompany his arrival musically, the guys from Oulu, Finland devised nine new swamp metal hymns, which can now be heard on their new, already 6th, album 12 Gauge. Due to the fact that the author of this review is not familiar with the earlier works of the quintet, an evaluation of the development of the band has to be excluded. But what the guys did on 12 Gauge is technically on a very high level, heavy and at the same time it´s a lot of fun to listen to – thus, three things all at once! Many genres are mixed, there´s a bit more thrash, some folk with acoustic guitar, melodic metal with twin guitars, fast solos and on top of it vocals that are worthy of a swamp lord´s song of praise. In short, it´s heavy but still demanding for the listener. Thumbs up!
