No Easter peace in Tavastia club, as also on Sunday two top-class Metal acts were on parade. First it seemed that Elenium would have a pretty empty auditorium, but right before and during their gig it filled up. And after 2, 3 songs nothing was left of the gap between stage and the people. No wonder, as they were offered cool whacky Prog Metal, e.g. „Challenger of Gravity“ with this Addams Family organ, perfect sound and some action on stage. Singer J – who celebrated his 28 birthday that evening – even behaved himself, well, relatively, when compared with the show at Vernissa (see STALKER report). But at some point the females surely just thought „when are the pants going to drop?“
Well, those made it through „Eyes Grow Colder“, „Human“ up to the title track of their current albums „Caught In A Wheel“ that ended a great show.
After the Conan movie intro Kiuas entered the stage, and the audience went nuts, taking photos became quite an adventure. Once again Kiuas proved to be one of the hottest Finnish Metal acts, interlacing Power/Heroic/Melodic Death Metal, with a flawless show, lots of action and a dose of humour, thanks to singer Ilja. He is one of the few who manages to sing – SING, not GROWL – and bang his head at the same time, and he has an incredible range.
The quintet focused on material of their latest output "The New Dark Age" that made it to Finnish album chart position 10 right after release in Mid-March. But there was also an acoustic song, performed with Ilja´s sister Anna-Maija Jalkanen, and classics like their ear candy hit „Warrior Soul“. Sure that the crowd wanted more, but the encore „The Spirit Of Ukko“ was the final song. Great band!
