Die Übersetzung folgt in Kürze. Die Redaktion. Zunächst viel Spaß mit der Englischen Version:
The theme of this film is the grey borders of the law. Keanu Reeves plays a police officer, who belongs to a group of policemen with dubious work methods. This theme was nothing original, but it is executed with a fair amount of talent.
Considering the acting there are some surprises and some obvious cases. Forest Whitaker once again delivers wonderfully. This Oscar nominee has great versatility, and he does not let the audience down; only the rare of the actors can portray weakness and power at once. Keanu Reeves, on the other hand, is slowly loosening up. Though he is as stiff as a teenage erection he works well in these typecasted roles where he is the same cynical fighter torn between the thin line of good and bad. The question is this: What is the difference between John Constantine and Tom Ludlow? The rap-star “Game” makes a small appearance in the film; nothing special, but as his role is so minute, it is hard to do anything memorable.
Besides Forest Whitaker, the director, David Ayer deserves credit. The visualisation of the film is pleasing and the general mood of the film is well portrayed. The setting is quite often referred to as one of the characters within plays as well as movies, and the corrupted world in which “Street Kings” takes place is a changing force. Some of the good guys are turned to the dark side and the corrupt are being purified. The storyline is nothing genius, but it is quite good none the less. If the theme was not already so explored, then this film would have been a lot better.
In the end the movie can be summed up in the repeated line “nothing spectacular, but quite goo none the less”. Considering the acting, plot, dialogue and so on, the movie works well. As previously stated, if the theme was not so pre-explored, this film would have been brilliant.
