When colleagues from finnbands.com organize a festival in Helsinki, STALKER has to be part of it... unfortunately I did not check the starting time, so I missed the fact that it started very early, for Finnish customs, therefore I missed the local heroes, Alternativ-Rockers The Jade (www.thejadenet.com, http://www.myspace.com/thejadenet) and Lucy Was Driving (http://www.myspace.com/lucywasdriving), a very young act following Sunrise Avenue´s footsteps. And also Anima had to play the last gig in their career without me, but Tero and Mika Rissanen & Co will continue making music as BloodProofPlan (http://www.myspace.com/bloodproofplan).

L-60º from Helsinki offered a mixture of Pop and Alternative Rock, and define themselves as Christian band, but they also played some real rough stuff in Garage Rock style. Still, everything very melodic ear candy, and the guitar players posed as if they got extra salary for that. (http://www.myspace.com/l60, www.l-60.com)
Yet Script Of Flood were more for my taste, musically because of their Metal influences, and also because of their charismatic stage presence. Singer Pekka Hyvärinen´s dark voice is quite appealing and fits to this slightly melancholic sound that reminds a bit of Entwine. And who is into this Melancholic Rock made in Finland should check out their recent "Window" EP (www.scriptofflood.com, http://www.myspace.com/scriptofflood)
Naked could then rock a full house, as many Finns had also taken their time to show up. The band´s Glam-Let´s-Go R´n´R had the party going at once. Tracks like "Rock You" or "Let´s Get Naked" caused a lot of cheering and screeching. What stuck out was also the helm-hairdo of singer The Muff. The fact that he had a beard was only visible when standing right in front of him... (www.nakedonline.net, http://www.myspace.com/nakedofficial)
But The Winyls got the party started, purer R´n´R with a lot of fun: Leady Winyl, James James, Pablo Spörre, Sheriff and HC Andersson hardly ever stand still, and during the show they play with Winyls-balloons, they dance&jump around and keep - literally - close audience contact. The Fun-Punk a la Hives sound fits nicely to this overall-action (also at the keyboard), it´s THE party band, and I can only recommend to check them out. (www.thewinyls.com, http://www.myspace.com/thewinyls)
Crumbland lost then about half of the audience, which was a pity as their Grunge/Alternative sound is quite appealing: catchy tunes with a dose of melancholy. Singer Jontte Genberg´s voice reminds a bit of Eddie Vedder. He is also the last one from the founding members, according to their Myspace all the others have either died or disappeared under weird circumstances... (www.crumbland.com, http://www.myspace.com/crumbland)
And then I called it a day, no longer waiting for Day Eleven from Tampere , although their Prog-Metal-Alternative sound might have been exactly my thing. CU next time, guys! (http://www.myspace.com/dayeleven)

Summary: A successful festival, but perhaps too many bands for one evening, the Finns did not really cope with the early starting time. And the light guy could have given a bit more, for the photographer´s sake... but still
