The band Hegemon is known in the underground and released their third album with Season of Mist´s Sublabel Activist Division, following the same direction of the previous cds. Those French guys just play Old School Black Metal with influences from Norway, without screaming female voices or dominant keyboards. Sometimes there are slower parts in the songs that add some variety, but they luckily don´t destroy the sinister atmosphere.
Technically Hegemon are really skilled, and they should be as the band has been around for 10 years and is still playing in their original line up. Contemptus Mundi is a good album without compromises. Recommendable.
