Falchion from Lahti, Finland, have been around for 6 years, and after the release of their debut "Legacy Of Heathens" band-mastermind Juho Kauppinen (voc, git) decided to disband the whole line-up and to sign with the German label Massacre - and now the career of this band seems to flourish, as they will already have a EU tour in November with Korpiklaani. And the combination seems to fit, as the second Falchion album "Chronicles Of The Dead" can be defined as Viking/Pagan Metal. But there is nothing to be found of this rustic cheerfulness radiated by the Clansmen, despite the fact that Juho wrote 11 songs for them and played live-guitar for them 2005-2007. Itīs a rather rough Melodic Death sound with growl vocals that you will hear, like "Children Of Bodom go Pagan" or something. And indeed itīs ear candy stuff, but not a very sticky one. Somehow a "hit song" is missing, although several of those tracks have the potential. Still, for genre fans itīs definitely a Must.
