Nice to listen to, those Swedes THIS HAVEN! They created a very interesting debut in „Today a Whisper, Tomorrow a Storm“, which should satisfy various kinds of listeners. Along with their not easy to define mixture of Progressive Metal and Stoner Rock the Scandinavians are standing quite alone, meaning: I didn`t hear it this way before! Some might think this combination must cause a very complex creation, but far from that. There though are Progressive- moments like tempi- changes, strings, keys and Co., as well as the appealing clean vocals of singer Patrik Karlsson and Stoner- moments like the often used focus on the bass line, however all of this does not complicate the music, but stays very catchy and easy to understand. So THIS HAVEN with the help of producer Dan Swanö ( Marduk, Dissection, Fall of Serenity, Misery Speaks, Dark Funeral ) managed to do some quite difficult splits which will probably take them very far very quickly. You sense a lot of potential in „Today a Whisper, Tomorrow a Storm“, so there remains the only hope that the album- title already tells the future!
