Nova°, the 3rd record of the German band, deep green sunset was released in October 2008. The Band exists already for ten years and plays basically Alternative Rock.
„Nova° has power, is authentic and shines.“ These are the bands own words to characterize their new album.
The first glance on the cover is both surprising and promising: English and German lyrics on one record. Courageous!
But while listen carefully, you soon realize that especially the German lyrics are lacking of power. (Guys, this kind of words you use when you are thirteen, but another glance on the cover tells that the guys from deep green sunset have left adolescence long ago.) The praised profundity has been missing here, whereas „Anthem“ („we want more beer“) is simply cool without any profundity.
In General the record does indeed surprise with the variety of songs influenced by Punk, Rock and New Metal, which are easy to listen, but sometimes they lack of power and authenticity you would expect from a band calling Pearl Jam, Audioslave, Red Hot Chilli Peppers and even Billy Talent guiding examples.
But let’s finish talking, listen yourself. The band is praised as a great live band and the songs have the capability to rock!
